We typically recommend six treatments for optimal results, though some individuals may require seven or more sessions. Several factors can affect the total number of treatments needed to achieve the desired outcome. For the best results, we suggest scheduling treatments every 6-8 weeks.

Pain levels vary from person to person, but in general, our clients are often surprised to discover that lasers don't hurt as much as they expected! The zap of the laser feels like a very mild sting. What can I expect after treatment?
After your treatment, you may feel a sensation similar to sunburn in the treated area for several hours. In the weeks following, the hair will gradually shed, and initially, it may seem like you have more hair. However, this hair will fall out, and within a few weeks, the area will become smooth and hair-free.

What can I expect at my first appointment?
The first laser hair removal appointment is always the most intimidating, so our goal at Illuminate Mee Aesthetics is to make you as comfortable as possible. Prior to your appointment, we will have you sign a consent form that also details all of the pre-care and contraindications for the laser hair removal. We'll ask that you come in without any deoderants or body sprays on since it can interfere with the laser.
Then, when you come for your appointment, your laser technician will again confirm that you're a good candidate for the service. Then, you'll lie back and she'll get started!

What is a Laser Hair Removal appointment like?
The treatment area will be shaved before the procedure. The laser emits a beam of highly concentrated light, which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the dermal papilla and disable multiple hair follicles at once, effectively slowing or stopping hair growth.
To protect the surrounding skin, we use a specialized contact-cooling handpiece that cools the area while directing the laser energy as close as possible to the hair root. The cooling tip also has mild anesthetic properties, making the treatment more comfortable, especially in sensitive areas. You may feel a tingling or stinging sensation during the procedure, but it is generally well-tolerated. If desired, a topical anesthetic is available to enhance comfort.
